Julia Mitchell is an accredited therapist, with a private practice in Roundwood, a village in the Wicklow Mountains, less than an hour away from Dublin city centre. Trained first in general nursing, from 1979, she went on to specialise in psychiatry, and then completed a 5 year course in Bristol, qualifying as an Integrative Psychotherapist in 1996. Her theoretical approach draws from Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches, and in recent years has become increasingly drawn to Somatic Psychotherapy, a sensitive and gentle approach to safely working with the body.
Since 2002 Julia has gained experience in a variety of approaches, including Pre- and Perinatal Psychology (William Emmerson) regression, Gestalt and Somatic Experiencing. She has a Certificate in Biosynthesis Neuro-Somatic Trauma and Depth Psychotherapy. David Boadella's approach encompasses many modalities, at its core its deep and sensitive respect for the innate drive toward growth and health. By valuing and supporting, a person can access their own resources, and become the best they can, without doctrine or authority getting in the way.
She has been in private practice for 30 years, and maintains her accreditation with The Irish Association of Counselling and Therapy. She has also been providing supervision for therapists and counsellors since 1996.
